I recently found out about developing your own search plugins for FireFox and IE7. I thought of a couple of searches that I use frequently in my job as a Network Engineer, so I built a few of them. Someone else might find them useful, so they are posted below. ![]() XML File Use ARIN WHOIS to search for allocated IP addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASN) ![]() XML File Use IEEE to lookup the Organizational Unique Identifier (OUI) for a MAC Address (Use the first 6 Hex digits) ![]() XML File Use NPS Internet Solutions to lookup Domain Name System (DNS) entries ![]() XML File Use RFC-Editor to lookup Request For Comments (RFC) Please note: This page uses JavaScript to install the search plugins, and the installation may be specific to FireFox. Alternatively you could download the XML files and place them in the appropriate directory. In the case of FireFox 2.0.0.4 (Win XP) that is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\ |
